HANOI JANE!!!!

The anti-war movement has allowed themselves to be discredited before they even get off the ground.

Why was Jane Fonda even allowed to attend the rally held this weekend in D.C.? I can hear Rush Limbaugh, his dittoheads and those other Rush wanne-bes in my head even as I write this, screeching: “Hanoi Jane! Hanoi Jane! Hanoi Jane!”

It’s ludicrous they would even consider her knowing the baggage she carries. What were these morons thinking?

And We'll All Go Down Together...

Does the administration have any idea what they’re doing? Obviously not. While Bush is making nicey-nice in speeches, Cheney is trying to flame Wolf Blitzer on CNN, stating critics of the war are full of hogwash. (I almost expected to hear him arguing the Earth is flat.) Which is it? When is this administration going to get its act together? The sort anwser is never. Bush is already irrelevant. He’s a lame duck with two years to go. Republicans are tripping over themselves trying to run away from him while the Dems are all tripping too – over their own klutzy feet. It’s amazing to me; they have a golden opportunity to make the GOP look idiotic and all they are succeeding in doing is making themselves look idiotic.

Not Enough and Not in Time

Twenty thousand soldiers sound like a lot. In fact, it is. There are many countries where that would likely exceed the size of their entire military. But in Iraq, 20,000 is miniscule and the strategy wrong-headed.

That’s no surprise given this administration. They pay lip service to victory – lots of it – but their actions don’t reflect the slightest commitment to winning. Again and again we have seen astute advice and warnings of dangers ignored by a President who appears more and more out of touch with the situation on the ground.

Twenty thousand troops aren’t enough. Forty thousand wouldn’t be enough given conditions in Iraq. It’s time to get out. Let the troops go the Afghanistan where they can do some good fighting the Taliban.
